About Mobile

Mobile is Alabama's Gulf Coast cruise homeport, with Carnival running year-round Caribbean and Mexican itineraries from the Alabama Cruise Terminal downtown. The terminal sits next to the USS Alabama battleship memorial park and is a short walk from the French-founded historic district. Mobile is the birthplace of American Mardi Gras and the Carnival Museum a few blocks away documents that history. MOB airport is 30 minutes west.

• The Port of Mobile is the only deep-water port in Alabama, ranked 9th largest in the nation by tonnage in 2014 with 64.3 million tons.
• The port has direct access to 1,500 miles of inland and intracoastal waterways, connecting to the Great Lakes and the Ohio and Tennessee river valleys.
• Port of Mobile is the largest break-bulk forest products port in the United States.
• The Alabama State Port Authority's McDuffie Terminal is one of the largest coal terminals in the U.S. and the largest import coal terminal.
• Since 2000, the Port Authority has invested nearly $500 million in capital improvements, including a rail ferry terminal and a new container terminal.
