About San Juan

San Juan is Puerto Rico's capital and a major Caribbean cruise port, used both as a turnaround homeport and a port of call. Ships dock in Old San Juan within walking distance of the 16th-century fortresses of El Morro and San Cristóbal, both US National Park sites. As a US territory, no passport is required for US citizens. Longer port days allow excursions to the El Yunque rainforest an hour east.
