Warnemünde is a seaside village at the mouth of the Warnow river and the cruise port for Hanseatic Rostock, 20 minutes upriver. For most passengers, Warnemünde is really the gateway to Berlin — a 2.5-hour train or motorcoach transfer that fills a full day with the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Wall memorial. Those staying local walk the lighthouse, the Alter Strom canal, and the Baltic beach.
