About Cape Town
Cape Town is South Africa's Atlantic-coast showpiece and a growing long-itinerary cruise call, below the flat-topped Table Mountain on the Cape Peninsula. Ships dock at E-Berth at the V&A Waterfront — a 15-minute walk from shops, restaurants, and the Two Oceans Aquarium. The Table Mountain cableway, Robben Island, and the Cape Point drive past Boulders Beach's penguin colony anchor the excursions. Weather can close the cableway.
- Cape Town is South Africa's oldest city and serves as the country's legislative capital — the seat of the Parliament of South Africa — while Pretoria is the executive capital and Bloemfontein the judicial capital.
- Table Mountain, the iconic flat-topped peak overlooking the city, is one of the oldest mountains on Earth at roughly 600 million years old, and is a founding member of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
- Cape Town has been named the world's best city for travellers by The Telegraph for eight consecutive years (2017–2025) and was chosen by Time Out as the world's best city in 2025.
- The Table Mountain National Park lies entirely within city limits, and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden within the park displays plants from 5 of South Africa's 6 biomes.
- The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town's harbour is one of Africa's most visited tourist attractions, built around a working harbour established in 1860 and named after Queen Victoria and her son Prince Alfred.
